The Centennial Coyotes will head out on the road to challenge the Desert Edge Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Centennial came out on top against Alhambra on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Coyotes took their contest against the Lions 8-3. The Coyotes' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Nicholas Williams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Noah Pozar also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Desert Edge gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Copper Canyon 14-2. The win continues a trend for the Scorpions in their matchups with the Aztecs: they've now won five in a row.
Christian Waldera looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
At the plate, Jayden Boschetti was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dougie Turasky Jr, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Desert Edge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Copper Canyon only posted an OBP of .333.
The victory got Centennial back to even at 2-2-1. As for Desert Edge, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Centennial got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Desert Edge by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Coyotes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
