After four games on the road, Timnath is heading back home. They will take on the DSST: Conservatory Green Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Timnath will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 238th, while DSST: Conservatory Green is ranked 98th).
Last Saturday, Timnath came up short against Sterling and fell 61-49.
Despite the defeat, Timnath saw an underclassman step up: Andrew Hamlin scored 12 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Hamlin grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Luke Jacobson, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, DSST: Conservatory Green really took it to The Pinnacle for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-28 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win DSST: Conservatory Green has managed all season.
Azar Ghezae continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Bradford, who scored 16 points.
Timnath's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for DSST: Conservatory Green, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Timnath have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like DSST: Conservatory Green struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 29.1 rebounds per game. Given Timnath's sizeable advantage in that area, DSST: Conservatory Green will need to find a way to close that gap.
Timnath suffered a grim 53-29 defeat to DSST: Conservatory Green in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Timnath was down 53-29.
