High Desert recap October 29, 2013
Bishop's Noah Stevens rumbled for the longest rushing play in High Desert this season in his game against Frazier Mountain last week. Stevens scampered for 80 yards on the play and finished with 118 on the day as his team topped the Falcons.
Bishop moved up to 797 from 848 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Bill Egan's team was able to move up by topping Frazier Mountain 46-6.
Dustin Wassdorp was a beast in the backfield as the Broncos defeated Russell Heasley's team.
Wassdorp was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 251 yards on 11 carries as Bishop beat California City. Teammate Stevens added to the ground attack by rushing for 118 yards.
Leading High Desert in both passing and receiving yards, the Broncs' Dalton Gallis and Little have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Gallis has thrown for 1,533 yards this season, while Little has 25 catches for 568 yards. Wassdorp from the Broncos leads the league in rushing with 988 yards.
Wassdorp of the Bishop is just 12 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 91 carries Wassdorp has put up 988 yards this year.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Ben Goffinet and Brandon Deckard's team and the Broncos face off next week.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Bishop takes on the Broncs. As it stands, the Broncos are in third, while Kern Valley is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Bishop and the Broncs face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Broncos comes in having scored 234 this season, while Kern Valley has scored 312. Bishop scored 46 points last week as it topped the Falcons.
The Broncs added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Ravens, 49-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for Kern Valley.
