The Escondido Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Westview Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Escondido is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Escondido ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 63-58 win over Fallbrook. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Westview strolled past San Pasqual with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 58-44. Given Westview's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while San Pasqual is ranked 1067th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Escondido's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Westview, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.
Escondido might still be hurting after the 75-52 defeat they got from Westview when the teams last played back in March of 2021. Can Escondido avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
