It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Permian Panthers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 26-13 victory over Pebble Hills. Given Permian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Pebble Hills is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Juzstyce Lara continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Lara has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last seven times he's played.
Despite the loss, Pebble Hills still got an impressive performance from Zereian Quarles, who rushed for 88 yards.
The win was the third in a row for Permian, bringing their record for this year to 7-5. As for Pebble Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Permian will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against North Crowley at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. North Crowley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Permian likes a good challenge. Pebble Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
