The Windsor Warriors will challenge the New Britain Golden Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Windsor didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Academy of Science and Innovation on Tuesday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Ravens recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Windsor had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-19.
Meanwhile, New Britain faced Southington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Golden Hurricanes skirted past the Blue Knights 3-2.
New Britain took Southington into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-16, 25-20, 24-26, 15-7.
New Britain had a senior duo take command as Liam Alape had 11 digs and three aces and Joshua Ramales had six digs and two aces. Alape is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games he's played.
New Britain was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive matchups.
Windsor's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for New Britain, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's game: Windsor has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.4 aces per game. However, it's not like New Britain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Windsor might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from New Britain in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other volleyball content.
