Will Seiler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Will Cabo was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Peyton Shaw also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Liberty waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Red Devils have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Council Rock North, Liberty also got a great game from a two-way player: Blade Epps. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Epps was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Garrick, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Liberty: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Caleb Collins, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.
Liberty's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Council Rock North, their record is now 5-6-1.
