Janessa Bettencourt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Taraylynn Vershum was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Dana Buckmaster was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Churchill County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elko only posted an OBP of .200.
The win (which was Churchill County's fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Elko, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.
