The Lathrop Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 64-40 defeat at the hands of Mountain House. While losing is never fun, Lathrop can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1002nd, while Mountain House is ranked 183rd).
Lathrop lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Reniel Crisostomo, who scored nine points. January Murillo was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Mountain House was led to victory by Coldin Parker and Jordan Assefa. Parker scored 11 points, while Assefa scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Jones, who scored nine points.
Lathrop has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Mountain House, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-6.
Lathrop will stay at home for another game and welcome Los Banos at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. Mountain House on the road again on Friday and play against Ceres at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. Ceres knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Mountain House likes a good challenge.
