The Carver Tigers pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Dougherty by a score of 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Carver has suffered yet this season.
When it comes to explaining why Carver lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tony Montgomery. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Montgomery hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakobe Caslin, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Carver and nudges their season record down to 16-2. As for Dougherty, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carver will take on Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbus knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Carver likes a good challenge. As for Dougherty, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Crisp County at 7:30 p.m. Crisp County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
