The Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors came into Saturday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They snuck past The Academy with a 42-38 win on Saturday. The win was just what Eagle Ridge Academy needed coming off of a 72-12 defeat in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eagle Ridge Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madi DiLorenzo, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Carole Tamburino was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
The Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Rylyn Romero and Malea Yurchak. Romero scored 12 points along with five steals, while Yurchak scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Yurchak pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Even though they lost, The Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Eagle Ridge Academy's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8. As for The Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagle Ridge Academy will square off against the Miners at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Prospect Ridge Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for The Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Fury at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Forge Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Saturday.
