St. Francis has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Cardinal Hayes Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (St. Francis is ranked seventh, while Cardinal Hayes is ranked first).
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Francis had no problem doing just that on November 10th. They slipped by the Crusaders 21-20.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johan Vasquez, who rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Hayes' offense rose to the challenge against a Mountaineers defense that boasted an average of only 12.5 points allowed. Cardinal Hayes breezed by Mt. St. Michael Academy on the road to the tune of 42-10. The win was familiar territory for Cardinal Hayes who now have six in a row.
Cardinal Hayes can attribute much of their success to Reid Jones, who picked up 165 receiving yards and a touchdown.
St. Francis has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 5-5 record. As for Cardinal Hayes, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
