The Johnson County Trojans had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.9 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Twiggs County 57-17 on the road. Given Johnson County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Twiggs County is ranked 526th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ziyah Lewis, who scored eight points along with nine steals. Lewis hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. TyRhianna Brown was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Johnson County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Twiggs County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-21.
Johnson County will look to defend their home court on Friday against Metter at 6:00 p.m. Johnson County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Twiggs County, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hancock Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Twiggs County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Tuesday.
