The MAST Charter II Voyagers pushed their score all the way to 69 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 79-69 to First Philadelphia Prep. Even though they lost, MAST Charter II's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
MAST Charter II's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cedric Williams, who scored 27 points. The contest was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Basil Graham was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
First Philadelphia Prep was led to victory by Av-Ron Averette and Ezekiel Alvarado. Averette scored 15 points, while Alvarado scored 16 points. Averette continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Iziah Bashir, who scored 11 points.
MAST Charter II now has a losing record at 2-3. As for First Philadelphia Prep, their win bumped their record up to 1-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. MAST Charter II will be home for the holidays to greet Strawberry Mansion at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
