MORGAN CHRISTIAN and CHARLIE BOWER did most of the damage at the plate: CHRISTIAN went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while BOWER went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave CHRISTIAN a new career-high. Another player making a difference was LAIKEN CONNOR, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
West Bloomfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Stoney Creek hit Notre Dame Prep with a seven-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Fighting Irish came up short against the Cougars, falling 12-2. The Fighting Irish's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Notre Dame Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katherine Healy, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
West Bloomfield's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for Notre Dame Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Bloomfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Notre Dame Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
West Bloomfield suffered a grim 20-5 defeat to Notre Dame Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Lakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
