Cottonwood won the last time they faced Hillcrest and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Colts blew past the Huskies 8-2. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Brighton Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Daxton Sorensen, who went 2-for-3 with three runs. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Cosby, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Cottonwood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Hillcrest, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20.

Cottonwood will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Huskies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
