The Herington Railroaders will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Wakefield Bombers at 12:00 p.m. Herington will be strutting in after a win while Wakefield will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Herington didn't have too much trouble with Centre at home as they won 62-47. The victory was just what Herington needed coming off of a 78-28 loss in their prior match.
Herington's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tyus Becker, who scored 13 points along with seven steals, and Mason Mortensen, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sumner Schlesener, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, sadly, Wakefield is still looking for their first win of the season after 13 contests. They took a serious blow against Rural Vista [Hope/White City] on Tuesday, falling 60-7. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wakefield has scored all season.
Herington's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Wakefield, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Herington against Wakefield in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 47-15 win. Does Herington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wakefield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
