Golden Plains is 2-8 against St. Francis since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Golden Plains Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the St. Francis Indians at 4:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 20 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Golden Plains and four for St. Francis.
Last Friday, Golden Plains came up short against Triplains/Brewster and fell 57-46.
Despite the defeat, Golden Plains saw an underclassman step up: Dylan Wark scored 22 points along with eight steals. Wark scored a full 47.8% of Golden Plains' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Rath, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, St. Francis took a serious blow against Wichita County on Friday, falling 86-25. St. Francis has not had much luck with Wichita County recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Golden Plains bumped their record down to 0-3 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Golden Plains and St. Francis were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting two weeks ago, but Golden Plains came up empty-handed after a 37-36 loss. Can Golden Plains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
