Mulberry has been on the road for three straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Plant City Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mulberry knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Plant City likes a good challenge.
Mulberry stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 61-27 victory over Discovery on the road. Given Mulberry's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Discovery is ranked 613th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Lorianys Castanon Cruz, who scored 38 points. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mulberry's points. Another player making a difference was Jayleeonna Boswell, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Plant City's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Robinson at home and fell 60-17. Plant City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Mulberry is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Plant City, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-18.
Everything went Mulberry's way against Plant City in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 as Mulberry made off with a 71-48 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Plant City's Alexia Stone, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
