The DePaul College Prep Rams will challenge the De La Salle Meteors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. DePaul College Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

DePaul College Prep is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Brother Rice, who was ranked third at the time (DePaul College Prep was ranked 13th). The Rams came up short against the Crusaders on Tuesday, falling 9-3. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Crusaders recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Charlie Pribyl was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Vance Kurokawa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, De La Salle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Marmion.

Francisco Rodriguez put in work no matter where he played. He tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off six hits. Rodriguez was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. De La Salle is 3-1 when Rodriguez posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jenaro Negron made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Xavier Castro was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

DePaul College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 14-2. As for De La Salle, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

DePaul College Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against De La Salle when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Meteors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
