The Katy Taylor Mustangs lost against the Katy Tigers back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Katy Taylor was dealt a 49-3 loss at the hands of Katy. Katy Taylor was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.
Daniel Bruns threw for 90 yards on seven of 23 attempts. Dante Archie was his top target, picking up 37 receiving yards. On the ground, Josh Jacobson rushed for 58 yards.
Leading Katy to victory were Romel Jordan and Tremayne Hill. Jordan rushed for 87 yards and four touchdowns, while Hill rushed for 183 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Hill's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Chase Johnsey was in the mix too, providing Katy with two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Katy Taylor and nudges their season record down to 5-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.5 points per game. As for Katy, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Katy Taylor will face off against George Ranch at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Katy, they will face off against Fort Bend Travis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Travis is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
