Softball Recap: Hooks Has No Trouble Against Atlanta

Hooks barely beat Atlanta the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hooks Hornets put the hurt on the Atlanta Rabbits with a sharp 12-2 victory on Friday. Considering the Hornets have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Zoey Greenwood, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Lewis, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hooks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Hooks and bumps their season record up to 12-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14 runs. As for Atlanta, they dropped their record down to 11-7-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Hooks and Atlanta should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Hooks (ranked 196th) will meet New Boston (ranked 774th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hooks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season. Meanwhile, Atlanta will take on Liberty-Eylau at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 652 places (457 vs. 1109).
