Waterbury Career Academy and Bloomfield squared off in some playoff action on Sunday, but Waterbury Career Academy had to settle for second. They took a 28-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bloomfield Warhawks. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Waterbury Career Academy lost, don't look at Dylan Rossi. Despite the final result, he rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 93 yards and one touchdown.

Zakyi Kimber was his usual excellent self, rushing for 102 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries for Bloomfield. Dahki Powell was in the mix too, providing Bloomfield with one touchdown.

Waterbury Career Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Bloomfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Waterbury Career Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bloomfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 58-12 loss against Ansonia on the 14th.
