On Monday, Austintown-Fitch made easy work of Lewisville and carried off a 9-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Tori Greathouse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
At the plate, Kaliana Ray was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Abby Toth, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, South Florence never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Tournament Opponent. Winning may never get old, but the Bruins sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Not much got past Payton Perry, who gave up just seven hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Tournament Opponent off the board. Perry has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Black, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Riley Owens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
South Florence's victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Austintown-Fitch, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Austintown-Fitch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .473. However, it's not like South Florence struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
