Eastern View hasn't had much luck against King George recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cyclones will square off against the Foxes at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
King George will be up against a hot Eastern View squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Cyclones' pitchers stepped up to hand Chancellor a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Cyclones' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four games.
Ashlynn Settle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Settle was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Sara Hopper was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Fick, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Eastern View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chancellor only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask King George). They blew past Courtland 10-0 on Tuesday. The Foxes haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Paige Headley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Natalie Spillman was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
The victory got King George back to even at 3-3. As for Eastern View, their record is now 4-0.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eastern View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .448. However, it's not like King George struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eastern View couldn't quite get it done against King George in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Cyclones avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
