It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Williams Bulldogs can now relate to. They suffered a tough 40-20 loss at the hands of the Falcons on Friday. Williams' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Williams saw an underclassman step up: Amarion Richmond rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
Deandre Nance continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Seventy-First, rushing for 204 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Seventy-First also got a significant boost from Jayson Franklin, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 103 yards.
Williams' loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Seventy-First, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Williams does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Seventy-First will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fike at 7:30 p.m. Fike will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Seventy-First is ranked 13th).
