The Deep Run Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Thomas Jefferson Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Deep Run has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Thomas Jefferson will arrive with six straight victories.
Two Thursdays ago, Deep Run ended up a good deal behind J.R. Tucker and lost 23-7. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Deep Run in their matchups with J.R. Tucker: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though Thomas Jefferson has not done well against Godwin recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Thomas Jefferson took their game against Godwin 24-14.
Among those leading the charge was Dashawn Stovall, who rushed for 150 yards while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Deep Run's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-5 Mechanicsville and 2-4 Prince George (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.5% over those games). As for Thomas Jefferson, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-0.
