The Lejeune Devil Pups just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Jones Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Lejeune knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Jones likes a good challenge.
Lejeune pushed their score all the way to 73 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to East Carteret 77-73.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Connor Shea, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Camron Myers, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Jones' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 80-40 loss at the hands of Pamlico County. While losing is never fun, Jones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 562nd, while Pamlico County is ranked 246th).
Lejeune now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Jones, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.
Lejeune didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Jones in their previous matchup two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 69-63 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Jones' Braylen Williams, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lejeune still be able to contain Williams? There's only one way to find out.
