The Rushville Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 69-26 loss at the hands of Jennings County. Rushville has not had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Rushville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Leonie Boyer. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 57.7% of Rushville's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Rushville struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Jennings County racked up 20 assists.
Jennings County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alivia Elmore, who scored 22 points along with five assists and five steals. Elmore continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliann Woodard, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Rushville dropped their record down to 7-16 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Jennings County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 20-3.
Rushville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Bull Dogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Columbus North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday. As for Jennings County, they will head out on the road to face off against the Grizzly Cubs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin Community is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
