Kutztown and Tulpehocken are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Kutztown Cougars will be home for the holidays to greet the Tulpehocken Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tulpehocken took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Kutztown, who comes in off a win.
Kutztown had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Hamburg 49-21 on the road. That 49-21 margin sets a new team best for Kutztown this season.
Meanwhile, Tulpehocken's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 52-30 loss at the hands of Antietam. Tulpehocken has not had much luck with Antietam recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Tulpehocken had strong showings from Aidan Schwalm, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds, and Lucas Werner, who scored eight points. Werner scored a full 26.7% of Tulpehocken's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Kutztown's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Tulpehocken, their loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Kutztown strolled past Tulpehocken in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 64-50. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Tulpehocken's David Bednarczyk, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Kutztown to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
