Muir is 0-10 against Crescenta Valley since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will head out to take on the Falcons at 3:45 p.m. Muir is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Muir managed to slip by Arcadia the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs came up short against the Apaches on Thursday, falling 13-6.
Sidney Sims was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Gigi Butler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Crescenta Valley came up short against La Salle on Monday and fell 8-3.
Crescenta Valley also got a good showing from Arya Reddy, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Addison Wong made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Muir's record now sits at 13-9. As for Crescenta Valley, their record is now 14-12.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Muir hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Crescenta Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Muir couldn't quite finish off Crescenta Valley in their previous matchup on April 2nd and fell 6-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
