4A Region 4 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Noxubee County extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 4 this week by beating Louisville, 41-28. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
Kosciusko made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,767 from 5,621. The improvement came about via a 42-18 victory over Caledonia last week.
Wyatt Roberts and Cass Love gave the Wildcats a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Roberts threw for 274 yards and two touchdowns, while Love ran for 124 yards. Teammate Roberts added to the ground attack by rushing for 17 yards.
Chris Thorton was the best wideout in the league this week as Houston defeated Leake Central. Thorton tallied three receptions for 115 yards. Quan Brand helped Houston's passing attack out by catching four balls for 69 yards.
Louisville's Roberts and Desmond Goss have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Roberts has thrown for 2220 yards this season, while Goss, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 49 catches for 837 yards. Darrell Robinson from Noxubee County leads the league in rushing with 1408 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Region 4 this week will be when the Confederates take on Tyrone Shorter's team. As it stands, Caledonia is in fifth, while the Tigers are in first.
The Whippets led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Richard Kendrick's team.
