The Copper Hills Grizzlies stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They put the hurt on Corner Canyon with a sharp 62-39 victory. The victory was nothing new for Copper Hills as they're now sitting on five straight.
Leading Copper Hills to victory were Ellie Taylor and Skylie Barker. Taylor scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks, while Barker scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Barker is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aspen Fraser, who scored seven points.
Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elina Mortensen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 35.9% of Corner Canyon's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Addi Yeomans was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Even though they lost, Corner Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Copper Hills only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Copper Hills' win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-1. As for Corner Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Copper Hills will take on Riverton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Copper Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday. As for Corner Canyon, they will head out on the road to take on Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
