Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Grande Panthers vs. Centennial Rams

Sierra Grande is 10-0 against Centennial since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sierra Grande Panthers will be playing at home against the Centennial Rams at 6:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Sierra Grande's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Centennial has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Last Saturday, Sierra Grande took their game with ease, bagging an 80-9 victory over Moffat. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Aron Ojeda continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 14 en route to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Martinez, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 15 points and six steals.

Sierra Grande smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Centennial beat Cripple Creek-Victor 38-29 on Wednesday.

Centennial has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points per game. As for Sierra Grande, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

Everything went Sierra Grande's way against Centennial when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Sierra Grande made off with a 69-45 victory. Does Sierra Grande have another victory up their sleeve, or will Centennial turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
