Giovanna Gottfried was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
In other batting news, Maria Dozier was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Natalie Monroe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Paul VI hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Potomac School struck out 12 times.
Paul VI's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Potomac School, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-4.
Coming up, Paul VI will take on Bishop O'Connell at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will roll in looking for their 19th straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. Potomac School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
