The Helena Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Thompson 49-20. Helena has not had much luck with Thompson recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Defeat or not, Helena got some senior leadership from Mardel Orozco and Brooklyn Kelly. Orozco scored nine points along with three steals, while Kelly. scored eight points.
Helena has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. As for Thompson, their victory bumped their record up to 15-12.
Helena will head out on the road to challenge Oak Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Mountain is on a three-game streak of home losses, Helena a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Thompson, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Montevallo at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Montevallo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 315th, while Thompson is ranked 59th).
