Basketball Recap: Callaway Piles Up the Points Against Columbus

Callaway had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They breezed by the Columbus Falcons to the tune of 56-21. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Megann Wallace was nothing short of spectacular: she went 11 of 16 on her way to 28 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Jahanna Wilson was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

Callaway is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Columbus, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Callaway will take on Neshoba Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Neshoba Central has won nine straight at home, while Callaway won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Columbus, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 118-13 defeat against Vicksburg on the 25th.
