Baseball Recap: Gila Bend Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

The Gila Bend Gila Monsters were able to grind out a solid victory over the Heritage Academy Heroes on Thursday, taking the game 11-6.

The team relied heavily on Easton Fernandez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Gila Bend: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Crash Davis, who scored two runs and stole three bases.

Gila Bend hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Gila Bend pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Heritage Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Gila Bend wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 20-4 win against Ajo on the 11th. As for Heritage Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-1 victory against Thunderbird Adventist Academy on the 15th.
