Basketball Recap: Mattanawcook Skates Past Penquis Valley with Ease

Mattanawcook put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 78-41 win over the Penquis Valley Patriots. The Lynx's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mattanawcook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Oliver, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Oliver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of True Weatherbee, who went 9 of 11 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds.

Mattanawcook's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Penquis Valley, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Mattanawcook will be playing in front of their home fans against Dexter at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mattanawcook has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Penquis Valley, they will venture away from home to challenge Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Penquis Valley is facing Central at the right time seeing as Central is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
