Softball Recap: Roncalli Wins Going Away Against Rushville

Roncalli had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Rushville Lions 12-0 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kayla Brewer looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carley Keller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Bennie Leffler was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Roncalli kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 17-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Roncalli's victory bumped their record up to 21-7. As for Rushville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Roncalli will face off against Indian Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Royals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Rushville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
