The Thompson Valley Eagles had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They managed a 21-17 win over Discovery Canyon on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for Thompson Valley who now have seven in a row.
Riley Suarez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 95 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 85 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Marco Lapierre, who picked up 53 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the defeat, Discovery Canyon saw an underclassman step up: Devon Baker rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
Thompson Valley has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 9-2 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.9 points per game. As for Discovery Canyon, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Thompson Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Northfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northfield has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 157 points over their last three matches. Discovery Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
