The Prairie View Buffalos will head out to take on the Wellsville Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairie View is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
On Tuesday, Prairie View made easy work of Osawatomie and carried off a 15-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Buffalos, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Bella Stolle made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 contests.
In other batting news, Prairie View let Rian Stainbrook and Charly Gregg run wild. Stainbrook went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles, while Gregg went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Stainbrook has posted over her last 12 games. Adyson Rhynerson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Prairie View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Wellsville scored first but ultimately less than Iola in their contest on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 5-4. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Taylar Spring was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Prairie View now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Wellsville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Prairie View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. However, it's not like Wellsville struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Prairie View's way against Wellsville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Prairie View made off with a 14-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buffalos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
