Tupelo has gone 7-1 against Southaven recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Golden Wave will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Southaven took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Tupelo, who comes in off a win.
Tupelo's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Hartfield Academy to the tune of 35-0. Considering the Golden Wave have won three contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kylan Bobo had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 220 yards and two TDs while picking up 12.9 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaeden Hill, who rushed for 89 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tupelo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 344 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Tupelo's defense and their three sacks. Jareylan McCoy refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Hartfield Academy's side was Kaiden Buchanan, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles (3.5 for loss).
Meanwhile, Southaven was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 20-19 heartbreaker at the hands of Lake Cormorant. The game was a 6-6 toss-up at halftime, but the Chargers couldn't quite close it out.
Southaven now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Tupelo, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Everything came up roses for Tupelo against Southaven in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 40-13 win. In that matchup, the Golden Wave amassed a halftime lead of 20-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
