The Whiteland Warriors were the 53-38 winner over the Plainfield Quakers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Whiteland fell 61-50 to Plainfield on Friday. While losing is never fun, Whiteland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Plainfield is ranked 36th).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gwen Higdon, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Higdon scored a full 30% of Whiteland's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Addison Emberton was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
The last time Whiteland won on the road was back last Wednesday. Having now lost four straight away matchups, they've bumped their record down to 3-6. As for Plainfield, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whiteland will take on Martinsville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Plainfield, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Center Grove at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Center Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
