The Charlotte Valley Wildcats gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on Franklin Central with a sharp 44-21 victory. The team accrued 37 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
Despite the defeat, Franklin Central saw an underclassman step up: Shannon Kingsbury scored eight points along with seven steals. Kingsbury scored a full 38.1% of Franklin Central's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Charlotte Valley's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Franklin Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlotte Valley will square off against Gilboa-Conesville Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Franklin Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Worcester at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
