The Fort Hancock Mustangs proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 21) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 win over McCamey. The win made it back-to-back wins for Fort Hancock.
It was another big night for Alessandra Jimenez, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Jackeline Arriaga was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Fort Hancock has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for McCamey, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 14 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.
Fort Hancock will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fabens has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. McCamey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
