Warren Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Denell Jacobs, who scored nine points along with three steals. Jacobs hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Denyha Jacobs, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Lawrence Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Laila Abdurraqib out in front who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Abdurraqib has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lola Lampley, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Warren Central's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Lawrence Central, the victory was the 21st in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-1.
Warren Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lawrence Central, they and Mt. Vernon will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lawrence Central is coming into the contest with five straight wins on the road, meaning Mt. Vernon will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
