There's no place like home for the Riggs Governors, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They snuck past Winner with a 60-55 victory on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Winner's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shawn Hammerbeck, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, and Aiden Barfuss who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barfuss has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Craven, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Winner struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Riggs' win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Winner, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Riggs will be playing in front of their home fans against Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Riggs is ranked 29th). As for Winner, they will head out on the road to face off against Lyman at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
