The Fairbanks Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 45-31 bruising from Southeastern Local. While losing is never fun, Fairbanks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while Southeastern Local is ranked 171st).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hannah Boehm, who scored eight points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Reese Poling, who scored six points.
Fairbanks has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Southeastern Local, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Fairbanks will face off against Greenon at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Southeastern Local, they will be playing at home against Triad at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Triad focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday.
