Baseball Recap: Parma Takes a Loss

Parma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Weiser Wolverines, falling 17-7. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Ethan Obenchain put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Parma is 2-1 when Obenchain posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Samuel Hultman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Parma: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kaydn Brenneck, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Parma's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Weiser, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6-1 record this season.

Parma has already played their next game, a 7-6 defeat against Homedale on the 5th. As for Weiser, they will welcome Fruitland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight.
